About the artwork
In commemoration of the inauguration of Barack Obama to the Presidency of the United States of America, I have created this collage. Drawing inspiration from this unparalleled historic event, I have used the triptych mode, a spiritual presentation of art in three panels that dates back to the Middle Ages.

President Obama and his family appear in the center of the triptych, with the White House as a backdrop and many of the people who made this event possible depicted below -- abolitionists both black and white, civil rights figures, and leaders whose work helped set the stage for this milestone. The triptych wings are filled with masses of people celebrating the Obama victory across the United States and around the world.

We Americans went to the polls in record numbers, casting our votes for change. We have much to be proud of. We have elected a leader for the ages. The significance of this occasion cannot be overstated.

I dedicate this work to the multitude of people who were and always will be motivated by the emotional cry, Yes, We Can.
